Xianglong Gao is a performance and body artist currently based in USA. Born and raised in Anhui, China, he combines his training in art history and neuroscience at Duke University into an interdisciplinary practice. His undergraduate thesis offered a theoretical exploration of queer affect in late 20th-century Chinese experimental art. After graduation, Xianglong transitioned from writing about art to creating it. His current works use performance as a medium to reimagine the presence of queer body in space and time. With a vision to merge art and healing, Xianglong aspires to become a community-based psychiatrist / artist, addressing mental health issues through practices that inspire collective care and resilience.
